18-03-2006

It started out being a fantastic week but has been rather stressful the end of the week!
Abigail has had the tummy virus that is going around. She got dehydrated and was admitted to hospital - she is home now and not dehydrated but only tolerating clear fluids so she has a new feed called dioralite (spl) which gives her calories and electrolytes (all the sodium and potasium she needs) in a clear fluid.
We are slowly starting to introduce half strength milk ( so made up and then double the normal water) as everytime we started a milk feed she was sick.
She is loosing weight which is worrying, but keeping down the clear feeds which is a plus.
She is sleeping through so we have to wake her to feed her.
Wednesday was just so worrying as she wasn't really responsive and very floppy in my arms.
I am not getting alot of sleep at the moment as i'm worried about her and waking her up to feed her, but we're getting there.
Hope your all well, and we've got the Christening next weekend to look forward to!

Fantastic News 13/03/2006

Clinic 22/02/2006

Well i've just got back from clinic and Abigial weighs a whopping 9lb 12oz!!!
So she's doing really well!
The health visitor said she should be smiling and cooing by now - which she isn't but im not too worried as she was 4 weeks early so might be a bit slow.
She seems happy and is eating well so im not worried.

Here are a few pics of our first holiday! We had a great time, had lots of nice walks and a rest and we went right into dublin to the guiness factory!!
I'll post some more pics soon (there are 101) hehe mummy and daddy took lots!!

Its been a while 22/2/06

Well how in trouble am I with you all for not updating sooner!! There are just not enough hours in the day!

Abigail is fine - as gorgeous as ever and getting more beautiful by the day.
She is getting so cheeky and wants my attention all the time! She wont feed properly for anyone else which is getting quite tiring. But she loves her mummy!

She is starting to be better at night like last night she was bathed and had her last feed and went down to bed at 10pm then woke at 2.30am fed and went back down at 3am and then woke up at 7.15am - what a good night!! Unfortunatly i've developed a cold so was up most of the night anyway with my chest and kept ed up with my coughing - why is it always the way that when she sleeps well i cant!!!!

She had her first lot of injections yesterday - i nearly cried it was awful, she had to have one in each leg and she screamed so much i had to hold her really tight, she screamed and then held her breath for ages! She had calopl when we got her home and again before bed but she was grumpy all day and was sick twice which is really not like her at all! But she had a good night and is still a little grumpy today but not as bad.

I'm still persevering with expessing and giving abigail my milk in a bottle - which is is thriving on. I have the health visitor this afternoon so will talk about what i should do now ive done the 8 weeks of breast milk.

We have chosen a date for the christening - Sunday 26th March at 2.30pm. I have got Abigails dress which is gorgeous - but still a bit big at the moment - havent found anywhere where sell premie baby christening gowns - madness!

Anyway i think that is all my news, i will update again soon (i promise) and let you know how abigial got on at clinic with the health visitor this afternoon.

Lots of love to all

Health Visitor - 12/01/06

Hi all,
The health visitor came yesterday to see Abigail for her weekly visit. She's doing so so well!
She now weighs 6lb 8 1/2oz!! (up 2oz on her birth weight)
She is now 39cm long (5cm longer than her birth length)
Her head is now 36 1/2cm (1cm bigger than her birth circumference)
She is 3 weeks old today, and as gorgeous as ever. She is feeding really well as you can tell by her weight gain and I am just so proud of her!

I'm doing really well too! Doing great with my weight and really enjoying motherhood! Would like a tiny bit more sleep but can't be fussy! ;)

Hope you are all well.

Lots of love

Pics of Abigail

Mad or totally insane? 06/01/06

Hi all,

A quick post, we are off out for a meal tonight, Me, Ed, Abigail, Mum and Steve and as you can see by the title im wondering if i'm mad or totally insane!! I really hope she is good, i am going to feed her before we go and then hopefully she will sleep in her pram - but as you know things don't always go to plan!!

I've put Abigail in her first dress today as you can see by the pic and even the premie baby size drowns her! But she is sooo cute

We are going to Church after our meal too, as it's the feast of the epiphany today.

I hope you are all well

Lots of love

Update 17/12/2005

Wow, it's been a while since i've updated but alot has happened!
Right where to start well i've been in hospital since the 4th Decemeber (i'm home on weekend leave this weekend for good behaviour) and will be in hospital now until the baby is born.
I was on the chest ward until tuesday 13th when I was tranfered to the ante-natal ward!
The plan is that the baby will be born on Wednesday 21st December 2005. Due to me being poorly and all the steroids i've been on the baby has suffered and is small - weighing just under 4lb on the 13th at my growth scan. I also found out i'm carrying a little girl! We are holding out until the 21st as i'll be 36 weeks on that day so we're hoping she'll put on some weight by then! Lots of calories for me!!
We really like the name Abigail Lucy but of course this may well change when we meet her for the first time next week.
I will keep you all updated and hope you have a brilliant christmas if i don't talk to you all before!!!!

2/12/05

Thought it was about time to update!

Well I went to see Kirstie on the 30/11 Abi is SO SO cute i had another cuddle! Can't get over how tiny she is!

It's my baby shower tonight! I can't wait! How exciting!! Mum has brought lots of goodies to eat! Lots of people who were going to come to the previous date unfortunately can't make it so it's going to be alot smaller but nice as i'm tired so will be more relaxed.

It was steve's dad's funeral yesterday a very long and emotional day, ended by a family meal at an Italian restaurant - how yummy!

I haven't been too well at all this week and am struggling to stay out of hospital as I know if I go in they are going to deliver me, and I want the baby to stay in till at LEAST 36 weeks (i'm 33 weeks now) to have the best chance. I feel if I can't do this i've failed! I just don't want the baby to have premature lungs as i've had so many problems with my lungs.

I hope this finds you all well, I wil of course keep you updated on everything that happens.

Lots of love

22/11/05 - Midwife

Hi all,
I have just got back from my midwife appointment. All went very well so I don't have alot to say, my kidney infection has cleared up nicely.
My blood pressure is still slightly low, but they prefer this to it being high. My iron levels have dropped slightly but not enough to worry about needing to be on Iron supplements - yay!
We heard the babies heart beat which is just so amazing it gets me everytime! The baby is a good size - actually measuring a week ahead of my dates!!
I don't have to go back for 2 weeks! I'm seeing the anethatist (spl) tomorrow. I will of course let you know how i get on.
Hope you're all well
Lots of love

Bad News 18/11/05

Hi all,
Well I went to bed early last night all excited for my baby shower that was meant to be today 18/11/05. I fell asleep quickly as I had had a long day. I heard talking but I was in such a deep sleep I really didn't pay any attention, the next thing I knew mum had come in my room and turned the light on and came over - i'd slept through the phone ringing, steve's (my step dad) mum had phoned and his dad had suddenly passed away! So mum and steve were driving to Kent to go and be with his mum - who as you an imagine was in a state.
Mum told me to stay at home - but after being woken up and told something like that I couldn't go back to sleep. I was on the phone to Ed as I was worried that this could send me into premature labour!
Luckily he calmed me down and I watched Look who's talking too!
Mum and Steve got back with steve's mum Margaret at about 04.50am and I was wide awake again until about 06.30am this morning sorting things out.
It is very stressful around here at the moment as there is so much to sort out - all that we have been through already in may this year when dad died!
I have cancelled my baby shower this evening in respect - as none of us are really in the mood for celebrating the baby with this sad news.
Margaret is going to be staying with us for a while as understandably she doesn't want to be in the house on her own. That was where she came in and found him last night when she had gone out for an hour.

But on another note apart from being totally shocked baby bump and I are doing fine - a little tired as not alot of sleep was had last night. I just wanted to update everyone to let them know what was going on.
It will also take the hassle out of me having to go through it with everyone.
Thanks for reading

08/11/05 - Midwife

Morning all!
Just got back from my midwife appointment. It was at 8:50am! How stupid is that!!!
Anyway they have said I now have a urine infection (just to add to things)
They are now sending a urine sample off to get cultured before they blind treat me with more anti-biotics!
I have to also have blood tests to check if i'm anemic (spl)
I'm now 30 weeks so its getting really exciting! I have my baby shower on the 18th November (mums frantically trying to sort everything out)
The baby is doing really well, heard the heartbeat this morning and it's so strong now.
Think thats it for now, I'll update you again soon.
